Setup / HOW-TO

Install SHaiRO in SharePoint

A practical deployment guide for IT partners, from the reseller dashboard to a client’s first question.

Before you start

You need a SHaiRO reseller account, an active trial or paid entitlement, and a client with SharePoint Online. Arrange access to the client’s SharePoint administration and the appropriate Microsoft administrator for API/Graph consent.

  • Confirm the client’s Microsoft tenant ID before adding it to Clients & access. A tenant ID is a GUID, not the tenant’s email domain.
  • Choose a modern SharePoint site for the pilot and a small, non-sensitive test document.
  • Plan the installation with the client administrator. API deployment, app consent and SHaiRO activation are separate approvals.
Current app releaseSHaiRO SharePoint app v0.2.0, solution version 1.0.20.0. Downloads are available after dashboard login.

Download the app

Sign in to the reseller dashboard and open Downloads & guides. Choose Download SharePoint app for the .sppkg file, or the installation kit for the app and an offline guide.

Keep the package filename and version in your change record. The dashboard also provides a SHA-256 checksum so you can verify the download.

Upload the right fileUpload the .sppkg file to SharePoint. The installation-kit ZIP is a delivery bundle; extract it first.

Upload and deploy

In the client’s SharePoint admin centre, open More features → Apps → Open. In Manage apps, upload shairo-sharepoint-v0.2.0.sppkg, review the enable-app panel and enable it. Microsoft documents this custom app route in its Apps site guide.

For an existing installation, replace/update the existing SHaiRO solution. It retains solution ID 871fa336-91b5-4d84-9e15-5e251a764b52. Avoid installing a second, competing SHaiRO solution.

For a pilot, use the intended site rather than enabling a broad rollout immediately. If you choose tenant-wide deployment, review the app catalogue’s Tenant Wide Extensions list so the extension’s activation matches the rollout plan. For a site-scoped deployment, add the app to the target site.

Approve Microsoft permissions

Open SharePoint admin centre → Advanced → API access. Review and approve the pending SHaiRO API / user_impersonation request with an authorised administrator.

The backend also needs the client tenant’s consent to its Microsoft Graph delegated permissions. Coordinate this with RandTech IT; approving the SharePoint API request alone does not establish every Graph permission. Use the consent and activation guide if the request is missing or cannot be approved.

Register and activate the site

Open the modern site where the extension runs, or add the SHaiRO Workspace web part to a modern page. Installation discovery begins when the app first runs, rather than when the package is uploaded.

  1. In the reseller dashboard, create the client with the matching tenant ID if you have not already done so.
  2. Copy the installation reference shown in SharePoint. Ask RandTech IT to assign the newly discovered installation to the correct client.
  3. The backend verifies the Microsoft tenant, user and site. The installation must then be approved and the client’s metering ready.
  4. Choose Check activation or refresh. Review the installation status in the dashboard.
Awaiting activation is a setup stateA local SHaiRO enabled toggle does not approve the installation, grant Microsoft consent or activate billing.

Create the workspace page

If you want a full-page workspace, create a modern page named SHaiRO, add the SHaiRO Workspace web part and publish it. The floating assistant’s workspace link expects <current-web>/SitePages/SHaiRO.aspx. A site owner can add that page to navigation.

The floating assistant requires a modern page with the supported Bottom placeholder. Creating a page and its navigation link remains a site-owner action.

Run your acceptance test

  • Open SHaiRO as an ordinary test user and confirm the correct site and account.
  • Ask about the test document and open the cited source to check the answer.
  • Review the completed request and actual credits in the reseller usage ledger.
  • Use a restricted test document to confirm users cannot retrieve content they lack permission to access.
  • If email is enabled, test each user’s own mailbox separately.
  • Confirm new questions stop when the test installation or client is suspended.

For your first separate client tenant, complete this acceptance test before a wider rollout. Contact RandTech IT with the installation reference if activation remains pending.
